Behind-the-scenes architecture improvements to the LOINC Terminology Service

LOINC has completed a series of foundational upgrades to the infrastructure supporting its HL7® FHIR® Terminology Service. The improvements modernize how LOINC content is loaded, indexed, managed, and delivered, enabling faster releases, greater reliability, and improved scalability as the terminology continues to grow.

The new architecture was developed in collaboration with West Coast Informatics and uses its TermHub™ managed FHIR terminology platform. West Coast Informatics oversees hosting and content distribution, while Regenstrief Institute remains responsible for LOINC data quality.
